wagg is a total waste of cash, it's a bag of fillers, you'd be better off buying a giant bag of rice/pasta and cooking something yourself for the dog.

Can you explain why for some of us it is pretty near top of the pile when it comes to dealing with our dogs' sensitive stomachs? I hear you saying that it's rubbish but from my experience it has outperformed everything except the fish4dogs (albeit a small sample of 6 but most of those 6 were the top end of the market dog food).

For example on James Wellbeloved my dog had liquid diarrhoea (the vet wondered if he was actually allergic to one of the ingredients).

On everything but the fish4dogs and wagg he has hard to pick up loose stools intermixed with diarrhoea. On both f4d and wagg he has soft stools intermixed with hard to pick up loose stools. He is not fed any treats (gave him a pigs ear when we first had him...diarrhoea) and so the food is the only variable in what he eats.

We've had him down the vets for investigations and he was flummoxed and in the end basically said stick with the food that works. We tried him on yoghurt (not successful and one of the few things he doesn't like the taste of and adding oats - no difference).

If you have any different ideas then I'd be really keen to hear them.

No, I can't explain that sorry, but then I can't explain why my nan smoked for 60 years and never so much as had a cough either.

I'm not a fan of JWB though (not since they were taken over by mastersfood) so wouldn't class that as top end dog food. If you want top end, with the price to match you're talking Orijen, Acana, and I'd actually put fish4dogs there too, think it's an excellent food.

I was the same with my boys sensitive stomach, have you tried pro biotics? They were suggested to me after a lengthy chat with a nutritionist, I put my boy on protexin profiber and it's settled his sensitive stomach completely. The nutritionist also suggested changing him to a lesser used protein, IE not chicken as a lot of dogs don't do well on chicken, hence me trying skinners duck and rice.

If your vet has done blood and stool tests and is still stumped I'd suggest having a chat with a proper nutritionist as a huge amount of digestive problems are diet based. Vets, unless they've specialised in nutrition don't know anything beyond basics. Just like out doctors don't know anything beyond basics about out nutrition unless they've specialised in it.

I dont have a dog, I do have two cats though, one with a very sensitive stomach, and the only food he can tolerate is fish4cats dry and Butchers Classic wet, which is the cheapest of the cheap! You feed your animal what suits it, not what the manufacturers of top end pet foods tell you it needs to be fed. I dont think anyone I know actually feeds their animals a "proper" food, just stuff they can get at the supermarket with their weekly shop!

I have paid no attention to manufacturers sine they want to sell products, they don't care what your dog eats. I do pay attention to experts in the field and do my own research, it's not hard, just takes a little time and actual interest in what your pet is eating. Some types of butchers tins actually have quite a high meat content.

But I do agree, it's about what suits your dog. Thing is, how do you know if Orijen, Arden Grange, Skinners, Burns, Fish4dogs etc wont suit your dog better than wagg, pedigree etc unless you've tried them all? And I'm talking in general here, not about you specifically.

Ah well, I shall stop banging my head against a brick wall.
