Final Payment to DMP - Debt Free as of today!

Options
After six years and seven months I have cleared £48,000 worth of debt. My original extimated completion date was December 2013 so I'm way ahead of schedule. It'll be the middle of next month before it's cleared with Payplan and then my creditors but I've no more payments to make after today. :j

Prior to my LBM in 2003, I'd been in debt since 1993 so it's 17 years since I've had a zero balance on any credit account. The only debt I have now is my mortgate and I consider that an investment. What's more, my final payment was less than half of my regular monthly installment so I'm quids in this month and looking forward to a great bank holiday weekend.

For those of you still stuck in the debt hellhole - take it from me, it does end and the feeling of relief is IMMENSE

Thanks - I don't think it'll fully sink in for a few months - I'm really looking forward to seeing the statements at the end of June with £0.00 on them! Although it was nice to see my bank balance this morning after all my direct debits and my standing order to Payplan had gone out, and to see that I had loads more than usual to live on this month and to realise there'll be even more next month! I hate to come across as gloating but it's just a wonderful feeling to realise I'm free of all that and what's more, the sun is shining!

    What is your next challenge?
I'm going to start saving at least a third of my disposable income each month and just enjoy being debt free and being able treat my self from time to time.

I also need to make some home improvements and will release some equity in my property to do so but I consider that an investment.

Congratulations! Very inspiring for the rest of us just starting. I don't think you are gloating at all, this is a very big step and you should be proud.

    Congrats!

Congratulations Madison, Very well done indeed. :T:T

I'm sure it will take a couple of months to fully sink in, after spending any spare cash on your debts for so long, to finally realize its all yours now must be a great feeling and one that is gonna take some getting used to.

Sit back and enjoy the feeling, and definitely enjoy the Bank holiday weekend and treat yourself to something that you've been missing for so long.

I'm really pleased for you.
