Very Old Style Chelsea buns

Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone have experience of leaving the Panasonic's "Enhanced Dough" for Chelsea buns overnight before rolling out and making them?
I have a Panasonic breadmaker and the Chelsea buns I've had from their recipe are amazingly good when tasted within an hour or two of cooking. The next day - still good but not amazing.
I'd prefer to serve them in the morning for our breakfast on Saturdays, but there's a 2 and a half hour cycle for the bread machine to make the dough. According to the Panasonic's recipe book you can't use the timer for this type of dough.
If this is possible, do you leave the Enhanced dough in the fridge or in a warm place? Do you leave it covered?
Any help greatly appreciated.0 -
Hi Blue
NOrmal handmade bread dough can be kept in the fridge overnight - it often gives better results. Can you set the programme so you can stop it at a certain stage? When handmaking dough i would leave it over night at the first rise stage - son it's been kneaded, needs to rise (which it does overnight). The next morning i knock it back, quick prove and then cook
Don't know about enhanced dough..... or what that is .. Ive bumped up the panny quick qs thread with a link to this question in the hope someone with a Panny can help!
Well done on using the search function - I am mightily impressed:A

Thanks for your info Zip. Enhanced dough basically has egg, milk and more sugar in, so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to leave it in the fridge - though I know little about baking. The cycle the breadmaker stops at is after the first stage anyhow, before the knock back, prove & bake, so I'll give it a go this weekend.
Cheers,

I used to make them from my Cranks cookbook. Will go check if I still have it on the shelf or if it is at my storage unit and get back to you. Meanwhile maybe google cranks and chelsea buns and see what comes up.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

I don't have my book I'm afraid but just checked Amazon and they have it if you are interested. It is a super book, it's called Cranks recipe book and you can get the version I have second hand for 1p + postage or the new version for just over a fiver. I would highly recommend, hopefully the chelsea buns are in both versions. I have fond memories of going to the cranks restaurant in Devon the food was delicious, a real treat and was great to be able to replicate it at home as was a struggle to afford to go more than once in a while.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Nom nom I think I will make these at the weekend. I want to make the ones that take up th whole tray and you have to tear them apart to eat them. So you end up with two (see what I did there?) ...I guess I can acheive this by putting them in a slightly smaller tray
think I have some flaked almonds to use up too so I can see a creative twist coming on!
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off
