Fiesta Tyres

I have a ford 5 door fiesta finesse (W Reg - 2000) to which I don't know the tyre size (I will when I check them out later tonight)

I was told at the MOT I needed new tyres as the inside whilst legal is getting a little thin. Having had a friend die from a burst badly worn tyre, I'm understandably a little paranoid about wear on my tyres!

Anyway, plenty of posts on here recommending tyre companies online - but obviously they don't fit them. Is it possible to fit the tyres yourself? I always thought you needed one of those machines to do it for you...

If not, how do I go about getting them fitted? My local garage has always been fairly reasonable about installing new tyres but they generally insist on fitting economy tyres (perhaps the margins are higher) as in their opinion they last just as long and have the same tread and density as the leading brands.

They do tend to last a long time - I'm replacing two at a time usually and they tend to last about 20,000 miles (two years). Does that sound about right?

not much use to you on the tyres front, but if ever you do need spare parts for your fiesta, have a nose on ebay. because they are such popular cars, parts for them (new or used) are two a penny.its saved us a fortune over the years

Fairly true - unfortunately I've been conned a few times by local garages and that's why I'm looking into safe moneysaving with my car. My total cost in repairs for this six year old fiesta totals at least £2,000 already (not including the vandalism costs I've had!)

It's not feasable to fit tyres yourself, and Fiesta tyres shouldn't be too expensive. If you only use the car for local journies then economy tyres should be fine but if you do motorway travelling I'd be inclined to get decent branded ones. If you're buying more than one, most of the major retailers will do deals on tyres so it's worth asking and they will fit & balance them for you (the other bit you couldn't do yourself) in with the price. 20,000miles isn't too bad for economy tyres - I normally reckon to get about 30,000 out of the branded ones on my car, slightly less on the front ones & with the cheapest tyres for mine being around £120 each I tend to shop around for local deals.

I used http://www.etyres.co.uk/ for my fiesta, and they came to my work and fitted it for me.

^^ https://www.etyres.co.uk are highly recommended by people on the site - but as always there have been a few lil problems.

https://www.blackcircles.com is another one to visit. You can get a discount voucher at https://www.blackcircles.com/msn. They order the tyres into a local garage of your choice, who then ring you up to arrange fitting.

    Blackcircles has a fitting option.
I've used Mytyres, had the tyres delivered to a local fitter and then paid £10 per wheel to have them fitted.
    Happy chappy
