I would be concerned about someone writing this on my sons wall as shanked round here means stab.

Mention it to him casually just say it came up in the info feed.
It might be a friendly thing, as in the football team your son supports is going to lose or whatever or a computer game. Or something more serious.
But he will know what it means. Tbh someone would have to be pretty stupid to write that on his wall if it IS meant in a menacing way...
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!! :p

Whereas getting shanked round here means a completely different and more pleasant thing for a young lad. :rotfl:
Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.

Another one who has always known it to mean stab. If you have a look at it on Urban Dictionary, the general consensus is it means to stab or slash with a knife or sharp home made weapon.

I hope too it's just banter (as it does seem weird for someone on his friend's list to post a public threat!) but it might be best to mention it. Whilst he may not like the fact you've been looking at his Facebook he'll hopefully understand it's because you're concerned.

Just to add that shanked comes from prison terminology. A 'shank' is a home made weapon from a toothbrush, spon etc that is sharpenned into a shank to be used as a weapon to stab.

I do not know if kids today use it as a term to mean you will get beaten. I'd see if the boy who wrote it is an actual friend and it may just be friendly banter - like calling your best mate a b!tch

James, that made me laugh! :rotfl:

I'd always thought it meant to stab too, but words esp youth slang evolve so if a lot of people on here think it means a hiding then I wouldn't worry.

Red Devil you could always post a comment........so they know you are watching.

To the person who says you shouldn't be checking a child's account. Are you mad? Everything said on facebook is in the public domain of course its not interfering in your child’s privacy. Its there for the world to see! Its being a responsible
    parent.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

I agree totally, It's a parents responsibility to monitor everything your child does... I do/did (he's 17 & half now) I've caught him out several times with his computer activity... Chat log in MSN messenger, Facebook... even going through his pockets reading anything he has, caught him with cigarettes. I do let him know that I monitor everything, and yes we do have a good relationship...... well I like it :D:D
