hp colour laserjet 2840 - fax wont work

hi i hope im posting this in the right place!

in work the fax machine wont work - it dials but always prints a report to say no answer when you try to send a fax!

it is plugged in to the phone line and all cable are ok!

just wondering if anyone would know if it is more likely to be a problem with the machine or the phone line?

and any ideas on how i contact hp by phone rather than email/live chat?

Hi there, do you have to dial '9' for an outside line or something like that? Can the machine receive faxes ok? perhaps get someone to try sending one to you. Here's a link for HP phone numbers.

we cant receive faxes either unfortunately - and no we dont have to dial 9 for an outside line

Hello again, here is some basic troubleshooting from the HP site. Are you able to make phone calls if you connect a normal phone?

plug a phone into the fax line and try to dial a number. I always ring my mobile when i have fax problems. Then try to ring the fax line and see if the phone rings.
