Thanks, that's interesting.
I was maxed out on my ISA so couldn't have used money for that anyway.
Either way, for basic rate taxpayer slightly down but a higher rate taxpayer would have been better off.
It was obviously yr2 (where there was deflation) that hit the overall gain on these bonds.0 -
Expectation is 2011 when the new funding levels are set. With them already breaching 2010 funding levels it is a fair guess that they are not going to return a product that will make the situation worse.
When does the new NS&I financial year start so we can buy some more of those certificates? at RPI

Should be a good test of the Dunstonh theory of breaching funding levels or whether they were expecting high inflation going forward. I know where my cash would fall if it was a bet
Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England, has warned that inflation could remain high for the next two to three years, leading to a substantial fall in many people's real incomes.

It's nothing to do with their financial year, they offer new issues of these certs as and when they decide, and they terminate the offers as and when they decide. We just have to wait and see. When does the new NS&I financial year start so we can buy some more of those certificates? at RPI

The treasury sets NS&I a target for the amount of funds that it is required to raise during a financial year. Index-linked Savings certificates were withdrawn when the target for 2010-11 (£0 +or - £2billion) was exceeded in July. At the beginning of the new financial year there will be a new target and NS&I MIGHT chose to launch new IL certificates at that time or it might chose to raise funds in some other way.
