hi all,
heres the situation.....if im downloading or surfing the net my pc runs fine but my wifes laptop runs slow on facebook takes ages for things to load+change pages.
ive got v***in b/band.my pc is connect to the router direct feed from the cable, the laptop is wireless.
if i put another router upstairs+connect the laptop to it will it run any quicker?(ive got another b/band cable in bedroom thats not used).

Try connecting the laptop to the router to see what, if any, difference it makes before spending any money.

i have a brand new router that came with laptop,its never been needed as weve used the router from v***in.

Are you sure you have a 2nd b/band connection available? what type is it? are you really paying for two separate internet subscriptions?

the 2nd cable is for virgin tv box which i dont use as ive got freeview in bedroom+if i put my pc in there it also runs b/band.im only paying for 1.

The second cable is simply tee'd off the main one, you won't be able to put 2 routers/modems on the line and have them working at the same time unless you have 2 seperate accounts.
