Or you could just add the spent compost to your garden soil.

I'm a bit of a meanie with large pots and containers. I only take out the top half of compost, mix some 'food' (eg Miraclegro) in what is left in the bottom and top up with fresh compost. By the end of the season you will be feeding most container grown crops anyway.
What is taken out can be put in the compost; I keep it in a dustbin and mix it with green stuff as it is composted, rather than dumping it all in at once. Some does go into the garden as I plant stuff out too.
As long as it doesn't leave your garden, it won't be wasted. I can't believe those who put soft prunings etc in the 'brown bin' to be taken away by the council, if they have any space at all for a composter.0
