Thought I would update what i have been up to today and yesterday. Yesterday saw me spending another £5 from my weekly challenge money, but most was on envelopes and stamps which i needed to send letters to bank regarding mine and OH's account. Hopefully will hear some good news about those in the next week or so! Glad its done anyway! Had my 1st nsd of june! Spent the afternoon at my mums playing in the garden with baba then we came home and both napped most of the late afternoon away!
Also got OH's credit card statement, It hasnt been used since before xmas but we havent been able to make the payments for a while, anyway the minimum payment now stands at £357. but the balance is £2470.19 which is £170.19 above the limit. Need to play about with my outgoings cos would really love to make the whole minimum payment, although there is a chance i might have to settle with just bringing it under the limit for now, will have to see, I hate that so much of this debt is interest and then charges, interest is being addeed at £70 pcm and then the £24 charges we have had the last few months have added at least £246 since we have struggled to pay! Gutted, cant wait till it is gone i HATE credit cards and once this is sorted never want to see one again!!!

You'll get there, you seem soooo organised with your money. But I know what you mean, I never want ANY credit ever again once this is all finished - that will be my long term goal...

D2BDf - I hate credit that much i dont even want a mortgage, id be happy renting the rest of my life and just having savings but OH would never agree he dreams of his own house. Maybe one dat someone might actually give us a mortgage and hell get one :rotfl:!!

Nothing new to report, has a nsd today and will prob have a spend free sunday and monday. Been working out next months budget and should be fine, rent isnt due out until Julys pay comes in so we are £500 up there, wish it could all go on debt but have some baby bits and bobs we need to get and DS needs his big boy bed! but at least we can get them credit free and that feels great!

7 days into June and its NSD no3!! must really try a bit harder now though as i want to reach my 15 target! Have sorted out this months budget which will run from tomorrow untill OH's next payday on the 6th July, After all my bills and debts have been paid we should be left with £750 for everything else. Hopefully will be able to fit in some more overpayments later on in the month if we are careful with this money, which i plan to be!
Its OH's birthday on the 8th July and he really wants a Playstaion3, Someone at work is selling one for £130 with games so I told him to buy it now but on his birthday any money he gets from his mum e.t.c will have to go back into our bank account as cant really afford £130 when we have debts to pay. Just feel awful kicking up a fuss and saying no cos he really is fab, never asks for anything and so careful with money and to be fair he works and earns it all so he deserves a treat for his birthday, last year he got nothing cos we were skint :(.

Also need to buy DS new bed and mattress and a stair gate for his door so he doesnt get up in the night and fall down the stairs! found all this plus another mattress for babies cot and a carrier/sling on kiddicare for £208!! Well impressed with that, and will take care of a big chunk of things we need to get.
The rest of the money is obviously for food and i need to get my hospital bag ready and get in bottles and nappies but this shouldnt cost too much if we are careful, going to look through freezer and cupboards later and do a list to take tesco in the morning, then we will prob go costco later in the week for our monthly top up of meat, milk, nappies and drinks.

Feeling positive and hoping we do well these next 4 weeks.

So yesterday was Payday for OH and it has been spend-Horrific!! I am now waiting for my bank to update itself with all the card transactions so I can have a clear view of wher I am at! To be fair everything was needed, new clothes for DS and new baby (now stocked up enough hooray) and some more fat stretchy pants for me! Spent quite a bit in tescos but a lot was baby things we need, and got all newborn nappies e.t.c. Only un needed spend really was OH, A friend at work sold him her playstation 3 for £130 and of course he just HAD to buy a game for £30 as well! And then England kits for him and DS added up to £60!! O well he has agreed he wont buy anything else for himself this month and that stuff is counting as birthday presents, his birthday is in one month and he will just be recieving a card and a cake and hes happy with that.
So once my account has updated I can see where we are up to. Made a PAD of £6.03 to miss selfridge today, the balance is the lowest at under £100 and the APR is 29.9% !! Shocking! so want to get that gone asap!!
On a plus note after yesterdays debt repayments total is now under £9000 :Tand stands at £8874. So progress is being made! just must keep it up!
Got a night out tomorrow for a friends birthday, really looking forward to it as havent been out in about a million years, going to withdraw cash so it doesnt confuse my account more and will be driving and obv not drinking so hopefully wont add up to too much! Will be back to report.......

I know what you mean about feeling guilty about your OH, I feel the same.

What are you putting in your hospital bag then? I have the bag but nothing in it yet - lol. Not really too sure what I need yet.

Glad you got under the 9k mark, that must feel sooooo good.

How are you feeling? I'm feeling good but sometimes a bit uncomfortable. Am just looking forward to cuddling my baby now :D

  • Hi, I know its hard isnt it but i suppose we have to just work together to get past it cos what we are doing is for our family and everything will be a million times better afterwards.
    My hospital bag will have:
    For me
Old granny nightie for birthing, huge knickers for afterwards (cheap so i can just bin them), toiletry bag with mini shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, flannel (you need this in case of stitches) deoderant and face moisturiser, toothbriush and toothpaste. 2 pairs of really comfy pjs for after (baby kept sicking on me first time so would always take more than one just incase) Towel, flip-flops for shower, slippers and if it was cold id put in a dressing gown. Also maternity towels, breast pads, and some normal super strength sanitary towels.
    Fpr baby.
4-5 sleepsuits. 4-5 vests. 1 pack newborn nappies. Wipes. cotton hat. jacket for coming home if its cold.
and then just some treats like snacks and drinks.
  • Thanks for that - will start a list of things I need to get

  • No prob D2BDF! I have just finished mine, I have just over 5 weeks to go but the way i feel now its like im ready to pop, dunno how ill manage!

SO have neglected diary land for a few days but you have been in my mind! I think i have just been spending horrifically like there is no tomorrow and felt guilty! Everything has been needed though, we need to decorate and had a huge list of things for DS and bubs to buy and that list has rapidly shrunk so it shouldnt be like this every month.
Now I have enough food in for the week and no plans so intend on having 2 definite NSD's tomoorow and thursday and by then all my transactions on debit card should have updated in my bank and some tax credits and child benefit will hopefully have gone in so i can see where i am at properly and hopefully make some more PAD's.

Oh and had mammoth post delivery yesterday, replies from the bank about payment plans on mine and OH's current account overdrafts, basically they just say 'we have noted your letter to us, please ring us on the above number to discuss your account':mad::mad:
I asked for correspondence in writing not permission to ring your ridiculously overcharged number ! I will write again to say this but dunno how far i will get!
  • 5 weeks! V exciting. I'm 33 weeks this week but going to sort bag within the next 1-2 weeks.

That is VERY annoying about the banks, they really do **** me off sometimes when they do things like that. I hate not being able to ring my branch and when I ring the ridiculous call centre - who don't pass on the messages anyway - they say they don't know the telephone number for that branch! !!!!!!!?

    Good luck with writing again.
