How to connect second computer?

My friend is giving me her wireless computer as she is buying a new one. She told me the computer will pick my sky wireless router as soon as it is switched on. My current computer is not wireless and I understand I will need the password for the second computer. I am not sure what it is, is it the network key or SSID I would need to access the sky wireless router!! Thanks

Think of the SSID as the name or number of your house. That gets you to the right house. Then to get in, you need the network key.
If you don't know the network key then you will have to log into the router interface using your browser and find out what it is.
The wireless PC will not automatically pick your network, it will list all the wireless networks it can see (the names it shows are the SSID's), you then select your own network and enter the encryption key to connect..

That is the default key, it may have been changed from the default of course. But try that first.
Make sure that that you use WPA encryption, not the older WEP, which is no longer secure.

Sky routers use WPA2 by default, with the network key being on a sticker on the bottom of the router.

It'll probably come up as something like "Sky247...." with the dots being the numbers of the connection. There also should be a sticker on the bottom of the router with the SSID and network key on there.
