Use a Council run MOT centre this time.0

My advice: go to a different garage.
And use Martin's guide: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-mot0 -
What car is it? If its a rusting heap then it sounds about right.0

I intend to use the local council run one this time but i was just trying to find out how long welding lasts. my car is is 1997 so it is old but its very reliable so i do not want to get rid of it. I guess im just trying to prepare myself for another expensive mot.
Does anyone know if your car faills at a council mot testing site do they re charge you for a re test??0 -

Should need to be done once, then it'll be fixed until the rest of the car falls off.
(You said it was a '97 car, so it must have lasted about 10 years, a repair should last the same)0 -
If it failed and they repaired it last year i would expect and insist that the repair was good enough to pass this year.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Your mot costs 400 but how much do you spend on repairs during the year?0

Once you start welding I reckon you have a couple of years more then the rust normally takes over.0

The parts that rust.... Just clean them up and cover them in smooth black hammerite! they'll never rust again!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
