Money for sale on eBay - is it a scam?

I found someone listing £10 for sale on eBay. They say they'll send £10 via PayPal to the winner, or deduct the amount of the winning bid and just send the difference, so that the buyer doesn't have to risk paying first. They have a 100% feedback rating.
It sounds too good to be true, but I can't see the flaw in it. Currently the high bid for the £10 is just £1.20. Anyone heard of this before? is it a scam?

Given the fishiness, I would never say "it's not a scam", but what comes to mind is somebody may have read those "funny stories" about random things going for a large amount, thought they would try to emulate that?I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Do you mean Money Laundering? If so, it is unlikely for £10 at a time.....0 -

Sounds like money laundering or a complete scam. First get the buyer interested with a convincer ie the £10. Give them £10 for £1.20 or whatever, then after completed send them a better "offer" for a large amount to launder or just simply con out of the buyer.0

Well I tracked the item down on ebay because I reckoned it was probably someone hoping to get bids way in excess of £10 and I thought I might make myself an easy fiver because I didn't think anyone would bid much more than that for it. The thing that put me off was the fact that they have detailed seller ratings of 5 stars for all categories despite only having 69 feedback and most people seem to have only 4.8 or 4.9 so I might just give it a miss. On the other hand, a fiver is a fiver - oooh which way should I go George, which way should I go?"I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." :huh:0
