You require a 'mini SIM' for the U.S Version of the Apple Ipad 3G. As far as I am aware these are not available in the UK. Apparently some guides reckon you can cut up your normal sim to be smaller and it will work. Wouldn't want to try it personally. Would say to just hang in there.0

I disagree. You would be able to place a micro-sim supplied by O2 into the iPad and it would work as normal - many people from the US have done this here in the UK whilst travelling here etc.0

aren't they out in the UK as of tomorrow??(well according to the apple website they are)
OOooo might have to go down to southampton and have a fiddleIf you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -
aslong as i can use it in the uk then that is ok. I just dont want to buy it and find its not compatible0

It works. All you do is get a suitable micro sim from O2, three, or orange, O2 seem to be the best deal. Pop in micro sim, sync with iTunes to get settings and off you go. You can do this in the Apple store. Won't mess up your apps, music or videos when getting the settings.
Apparently Three want to do a whole credit check. I got o2 and it was quick and simple.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Someone had one on the platform in Clapham this morning and it looked very cumbersome/unweildly, god knows where he'd put it when not in use too.... perhaps we'll see a proliferation of ipad sized 'man bags' over comming weeks?
have they worked out anything it's actually 'useful' for yet?0 -
I haven't found it cumbersome at all. I have put it in my bag which I sometimes use for my laptop. It doesn't replace my laptop but like tomorrow when I have some meetings and I need to show some things to them it works brilliantly.
As I have back trouble like most people in their forties sometimes the reduced weight helps rather than lugging around laptop.
At a lunchtime meeting today I showed my work on that which includes websites and video, they were impressed and have just emailed to say they want to go ahead, so it has done its job.
I loaded Pages and Numbers which is the word processor and spreadsheet and they do what I need them to. On Friday I was waiting for my wife and typed out a document that I send to a client in Word format.
If it sounds like I'm defending it I'm not as I know you weren't criticising it, but I just have to share my experience.
I'm very impressed, oh and the videos and photos look sensational.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
