Hi there, thought I'd chance it with one of my free sims, these codes on back of cards are 24DTXTAN.

Anyway even though my account balance was £0.00 I still sent a text, WEEKEND then my postcode, got message saying I had no credit and the another saying my O2 Long Weekend will be active within 48 hours, brilliant.:T

I can be an 'insider' on this one, if you know what I mean.

The most common links to get free sims are https://www.o2.co.uk/mates and https://www.o2.co.uk/freesim . Of course they're not always there but run pretty regularly.

The SIM's sent are on the O2 Online tariff:

Top up £10 a month... 300 free sms or 50 free anytime any network minutes or 100 off peak any network minutes.
Top up £15 a month... 500 free sms or 100 free anytime any network minutes or 150 off peak any network minutes.
Top up £30 a month... 1000 free sms or 150 free anytime any network minutes or 300 off peak any network minutes.

The number of minutes/messages given is based on your previous 30 days worth of top up's. Usually when you activate the SIM you are given the free texts immediately, but in MOST cases these will be removed within 48 hours. My advice would be to use as many as you can in those 48 hours, because say for example you use 99 before they are removed, when you do top up they are replenished with a fresh set of 300, meaning you have got 399 texts in your first month!

Similarly, if you follow the info given in your welcome pack to claim the £2.50 this also sometimes activates the free SMS (only to usually be removed, again within 48 hours).

The promotion over the long weekend thing is 'Provided you top up £10 or more each month, you will receive 500 minutes per month to call from your nominated postcode to O2 mobiles and landlines, on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays for up to two months'

You can try and activate it to get the promotion for free, but BEWARE, if it is removed because you have not topped up you will not be able to reactivate it when you DO top up.

Also, all new o2 Prepay users, don't forget to text REWARD to 50202 (free to send) to ensure every 3 months you are getting an extra 10% back on your top ups!!

you dont need to send any text for free minuts,they already loaded with free minuts.

Muhamid, you always seem to give great o2 advice. I remember you advising on free o2 texts last year etc.

Where do you get your info? Is it from a website we don't know about or do you just test loads of sims when they arrive?

Either way, cheers for the tips!
