Did it say anything on the letter about reclaiming travelling expenses? if it was a different day or place to when you attend the jobcentre you can usually claim travel costs if you have to attend it. If it didnt say anything about this then the chances are you didnt have to go.

The government announced a few days ago that the Future Jobs scheme (the scheme that pays unemployed people minimum wage for six months to sit and do nothing) is being scrapped, so it seems you have not missed anything. At 26, you are too old for the scheme anyway IIRC.

You are thinking about the new deal scheme.. :o

The area i live in would be covered by the flexible new deal, not old new deal.

And so there is no sitting anywhere and no minimum wage nonsense as i couldn't ever afford to live on even close to min wage!

The Future Jobs Fund scheme is a choice of 4 options,
and the 1 im going to choose is the 1 year fulltime college course option.

As it says that i will get my full benefits money for this 1year (equivalent to 33k per year) + all travel expenses paid to the college every day.

    http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/employment/government_employment_schemes.htm#Training_schemes

Full-time education and training for up to twelve months.
You will receive an allowance equivalent to your Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)

+You can claim my full housing benefit for those 12months and all travel to the college expenses.

Its meant to be for under 25s, however as i started this claim when i was under 25,
and the jobcentre peprson agreed to authorise me onto it i can do it if i choose to, although as im over 25 its not mandatory for me like it would be for under 25s.

The conservatives can and will rename the schemes,
however i will make sure im on it before they do,
and so i will get to complete my 1year atleast.

However i had a slight problem and so by the time id got dressed and walked there it was already 1.57pm
Being unemployed sounds very restful for you.

Perhaps it would be more productive to continue to follow the 'normal' working day pattern, so that your body clock is used to getting up and going to bed at the same time you would normally do on a weekday if you had a job to go to, then it won't be as much of a shock when it actually happens, and you also wont be at risk of having to readjust your routine and worse still, risking sleeping in when you have the responsibilities of going to and holding down a job.
On the letter it simply said that you had to attend between 11am - 2pm (So i assumed that you simply had to showup and sign a register at some point between 11 and 2),
as it didn't say that you had to attend ''from'' 11am till 2pm, just said ''between'' 11 and 2.
If your diary is so full and your day so hectic that it seems that you don't have the time to spend at these events beyond 'signing a piece of paper' then why not start your day earlier, so you can cram more into your hectic lifestyle.

Maybe I should just follow the same example, and turn up at my place of work at 4.57pm stating in my defense, that although my job is specified as being between 8AM and 5PM, I didn't realise that I was expected to attend all day.

It sounds to me as though you should have been there from 11-2.

If you needed to register and did not you will know soon enough when you are given a sanction.

Assuming his explanation is true then it is the fault of the registrar for leaving early.

However i had quite a later night lastnight as its student night in some of the nightclubs round here and the 1s nearer to Trafalguar square on wednesday nights,
which means very cheap drinks like 3 bottles of beer/alcopop for £10,
but which meant that i overslept past my alarm clock rings. :(

I can't believe people didn't pick up on this in your post - how on earth you can afford to go out partying when you receive JSA? Some fortnights I can barely afford toothpaste! Maybe you should buy a more expensive alarm clock or ask your Mum to get you up (to be able to afford to go out I would have to pay no bills and not eat so I'm assuming you either live at home or choose to enjoy yourself rather pay bills!)

I picked up a leaflet a while ago for a Jobs fair here and said I was going to go. They didn't put me downfor it so it was my own choice as to if I went or not.....

Anyway, I did go and there on the job center stand they were signing against names of people who were required to go, in fact those people were having to queue up for around 20 mins each just to get signed in.
