It is normal to clear a browser cache using some option in the browser menus so it will depend on which browser you are using. I'd suggest a good place to start looking is the help menu for the browser you are using. Unless it was set to use a lot more cache than it should have I doubt you'll notice much improvement though.

It could be a problem with your hard drive, type in disk utility in spotlight select Macintosh HD then click on verify disk (bottom left) It should start to verify the disk and let you know if there are any problems with it. If there are problems with your hard drive, you will need to boot from your mac OS installation CD, and run disk utility to repair any problems.
After that, or if there are no problems found download OnyX. OnyX is a maintenance program.

Download and use Onyx. It is a free application that deletes unused files, carries out maintenance and disk verification. When you start it and it checks the startup volume it may look like its hung. Leave it to finish.

+1 for Onyx here! Probably the most useful App I have on my Mac.

Could you answer a couple of questions to help us further help you?

    1. Which Mac Book do you own and which OS version? (Go to the apple icon in the top left and choose "About this Mac" if you're not sure. Post the OS version, processor and memory).
    2. Is it slow with a lot of things or with specific things? You've talked about internet files, so I'm guessing part of the problem is with web browsing.

    TIA

Hammyman and Scouselander Hi, I'd been getting the spinning ball a lot recently so when I read about Onyx I decided to try it. Great, it worked, no spinning ball so many thanks for this.
