Insuarnce won't pay up

I took out a contract on a £400 Blackberry earlier this year and am still well within my contract term, but last month I had my phone stolen whilst on a night out, I was attacked and the phone had vanished by the time I had fought off my attacker.

I have asked my phone company for a replacement but they said no as i have no insurance BUT i do have insurance and I have proof but they refuse to pay. What can I do? Because I am still paying for the contract but I'm only using avery basic phone now.

Can anyone help me?

Why don't you check your household insurance as well, some do cover items stolen outside the home.

Is the insurance with the phone network or is it through a 3rd party provider?

The company would have said why they are not paying up, you did report the robbery to the police did you not?

As others have asked, who is the insurer? Is it something you took out when you got the phone or was it done via a 3rd party insurer? Have you got a policy, either sent through the post or emailed to you? Did you report the theft to the Police?

It's hard to give an honest answer without having all the facts.
  • i did report the theft to the police and the insuarce came with the phone, and I have the paper contract for the insurance but I cant remember the name of it

If you have the paper contract for the insurance, why not examine it to find out what it says?

    Hi Sarah,
Did you buy the phone direct from the network or was it from a 3rd party supplier like CPW etc. ???
If it was a 3rd party supplier the network won't know anything about the insurance you have.
It's not just about the money
