What is a EDF doorstep "Scale of Tariffs Check"
A man with a EDF ID card appeared at the doorstep saying he was here to do a "scale of tariffs check". I'm looking after my parents' house while they are on holiday. I got rid of him but I get the impression he will be back. I have now found out we are with Southern so why should EDF be calling to check anything? It seemed suspiciously like a disguised sales tactic to me.

I think your suspicions are correct, there is absolutely no need for EDF, or anyone else for that matter, to pry into which tariff anyone is on, unless hoping to use the old "we can cut 30% off" trickGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Thanks for the reassurance. These people have this way of making you feel small if you accuse them of being salesmen. They come out with such well-practiced baloney. Uuuurrrgh! So infuriating. I always need a cup of tea and a sit down after such encounters.0

Presumably you are not the account holder? If you explain that, he should disappear for good (as long as you don't say when the account holder will be back)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Anyone who knocks on your door selling anything is a [STRIKE]sales[/STRIKE] con man, especially if they deny they are selling anything. Just remember that!British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0

Do salesmen have souls? If they have no souls, then they cannot go to hell. If they have no souls, can they be considered human?
I wish I could get planning permission for a shark/pyrranha pool.
Press a button, and the salesman slips down a chute to swim with the fishes. How can it be murder, since they have no souls?0 -
Seems to be the season for utility door knockers. I've had three different suppliers in the last 3 weeks - including SWALEC who have called twice!:rotfl:0
