Hi,
I moved into my property 10 months ago and it had a prepay meter in it from scottish power.
When i asked them to move it they refused saying it had to stay in for 12 months.
I have now contacted them asking for removal again and they said it will cost me £45 which I must pay before they remove it.
I cant obtain quotes from other companys whilst tjis meter is in,
What can i do ??
Joe

Only the supplier can arrange to change the meter ... but you could arrange to switch supplier.
Of course there's no guarantee that a new supplier would be prepared to remove your prepayment meter
BG don't charge.
Don't think SSE (or any of their trading companies/partners) do either.
Don't bother asking E.On - they'll charge you more than £45 to remove the meter (assuming they even agree to)
Not sure on others charges so best to check first."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
I got my pre-pay meter taken out for free by n-power, it was agreed at the time that i signed up with them (verbally over the phone), i kept a record of the time, date and person i spoke to, but was no problem changing it, took about 6 weeks altogether had to wait till account was properly set up first,
call the energy suppliers bluff, tell them another company has offered to do it for free if you agree to change your supply and i bet theres a good chance they'l waive the fee for you.0
