Selling perfume- dangerous substance!!!
Peanuts
Another bit of advice needed....
Sold an expensive perfume.
Got proof of posting.
Buyer reckoned she didnt get it.
Refunded her full value and claimed against the PO.
Letter from PO to say no refund as it was a dangerous substance!!
Surely people post perfume all the time dont they?
My local PO dont know what this is about but I wondered if anyone else had similar experience.

Booo to Royal Mail my 75 year old nan sent money recorded delivery to a relative for a bday thinking this would be safe. Guess what it didnt arrive and they said you shouldnt send money recorded del should have gone special del. Hardly consolation for a pensioner! Hope the person who swiped it feels very guilty!:mad:0

http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=400255&catId=400044 gives the prohibited list.
Perfume probably is one of these ......
Aerosols, except inhalers with a volume of 50ml or less
Alcoholic liquids with alcohol content higher than 70%
Flammable liquids or solids
With a get out clause .....
Any other item prohibited by law or that in the opinion of Royal Mail may be harmful or dangerous to Royal Mail employees
So unless you can prove the item did not fall into any of the above categories you will just have to take the hit.0 -
Hehe! It is true though - perfume can be extremely flammable and if a bottle burst and became lit there would be a spot of bother in the sorting office... =oS
In the same light, alcohol is a very good fuel too - I wonder if we will all be prevented from bringing booze back on planes in the future...0 -
Molerat - do I understand it that re the regs I can post a 50ml perfume but not a 100ml??? Or am I being thick?
I reckon the local PO folk ought to be able to advise if I cant post it - 2 local POs denied any knowledge of my ability to post.
Maybe 100mls ought to go recorded to avoid being lost!!0 -
Going off topic a bit but I found out another stupid thing recently - a parcel abroad costs more to send if it has a letter inside referring to matters other than the contents!! It costs about a pound more!!!
