I think they will struggle to see this deal go through.

  • Wal-Mart is a predator, i spend a lot of time in Mexico and they take smaller retail firms like Netto and intergrate them with zero consideration for for anyone, now they want to do that here, i like Netto, i cant say i like ASDA, but at least i have a choice, WalMart just want to rule the retail world.

Maybe they'll get into bed with Tesco and form a coalition.
  • I somehow expect that they will get away with this. Supermarkets and banks seem to be able to get away with moat anything. Just hope that they do not implode and we have to bail them out too.

In recent years Co-op purchased Somerfields and Morrisons purchased Safeways. Both of these acquired chains were larger and higher profile so I can't see the Netto purchase being seriously challenged.

I am glad they bought up NETTO UK. I live in Scotland and Netto have no outlets here. It's only in the last fifteen years that we got J Sainsbury and Tesco. Before then only ASDA and Presto were interested in this area.

Hense the reason, I only shop at ASDA. I hope they open some small stores here too with only grocery and cut out all that ASDA hard goods section.

i am looking foward to having an asda within walking distance, its difficult not having an asda and seeing all the lovely grabbits on here :p netto would be ok if they kept the store clean our one is so dark and dirty they deserve to be taken over.

    All about market share !
Co-ops purchase of Somerfield and Morrisons purchase of Safeway both left them still short of 3rd place Sainsbury's market share.

Be careful what we wish for, what sounds good short term will mean less and less options to spend your £ whe n it comes to groceries

Will the former Netto customers cope with the drop in quality of product and poor customer service that will come with the Asda takeover- along with the increase in prices?
