Cars first used after 1978 must have an offside exterior mirror plus either an interior mirror or a nearside external mirror. If you have an interior mirror the nearside external can be broken.

In addition to what molerat has said, you are in breach of Construction and Use regulations as your car is currently sans offside external mirror. C&U breaches can carry a fine and 3 points but you'd most likely be issued with a defect rectification notice which requires you to fix it and take it to a MOT station to get the notice stamped, for which there may be a charge.

They are really, really simple to replace. It's a DIY job needing nothing more than a screwdriver. Get a replacement from your local scrappies.

Just takes one bored copper, Might see the vehicle as unroadworthy and stop to check if you have insurance.

Many years ago a mate had a MK3 escort, for some reason he was stopped and they found the battery to be loose.
I never did find out why he got stopped and they checked that?

He got a form that had to be stamped by a garage to say it had been repaired. Garage charged him £20. Guy said take it
somewhere else if you want. They will charge the same.

As posted I was believe you have to have an interior mirror and at least one exterior mirror (Thought this could be either nearside or offisde though).

I would expect that you would probably get pulled over eventually with no mirrors on, especially if you drive it for a prolonged period of time and a copper sees you a couple of times in it.
