Hi,
This is prob a daft question to some of you - but i cant get my head round it!
Dont have speakers on PC, just want to use headphones. Stuck the headphones in the front of the tower, where the headphone icon is, and nothing : ( how do i get my headphones to work on my PC?
They are just the in ear headphones....if that makes a difference

Home build ? Sometimes not wired in. Try the GREEN sound out socket on the rear. Also, sometimes there in a headphone select in the sound properties.0

Are you sure the sound jack on the front of the PC is connected inside the case? I have come across many a computer that are not connected up for front audio use. Plug them in at the rear of the PC and see if you get any volume out.
I am assuming you checked all the volume levels in control panel --> sound to ensure nothing is muted or disabled and stopping the sound from working?0 -
No, its an advent shop bought pc....thanks for your reply. How/where do i change it headphone in sounds options?0

Ooooh, its ok mallada, ive had a look in the options - nothing there i can see, but when i plugged headphones in again a pop up box came up asking what id inserted, selected headphones and is now working - excellent!0

Yeah for future the options vary slightly depending on operation system but they can all be accessed from launching control panel and choosing the option with sound in it, Sounds and Audio Properties’ ‘Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices’ etc.
Glad you got it working natc.0 -

On some setups you can disable the front or back headphone jacks independently of each other, so make sure that this is not the case here.
Plug the phones into the rear sockets to check they are working and, if so, look through the Control Panel >> Sounds options for a switching that turns the front sockets on and off.0
