You, David, are a splendid example of what so many insurers rely on for business. In this case, don't make the auto-renew feature very prominent in the renewal bumpf, then sit back and wait for the inertia renewals to clock up. At the very least they will get a nice little cancellation fee they don't deserve - at the most, they will retain a piece of business they might have lost to a competitor.

Let's make an even plainer statement: I have no doubt that a number of insurers build little semi-scams like this into their business plans and actually reward staff for coming up with similar ideas that will result in greater retained income.
