Sky Light

Looking at having an extension to side of our bungalow - as we are siding onto path and then road - that side cant have any windows - there will just be one at front - have had skylights recommended to me to give me lots more light - how good are they - anyone got one or two - if you have got one - do you wish you had gone for a couple - are there any good and bad points I should know about - the room is mainly going to be a craft room but will double up on occasion as a guest room with adjoining wet room (obviously that will be at the other end from the skylight) - whole size will be about 14 by 25 ft
The chap drawing our plans had said you could make a real feature of it and have a massive velux window but |I thought that would put the price up too much - we settled on one that 1 metre by 600 mm - now I am wondering should I have asked for a couple instead - want it to be really light - are there any downsides??
Any advice appreciated - thanks

In that size room I would be tempted to have more than 1. I have 3 velux windows (not the wooden ones but the white metal coated ones so that they match my upvc windows) they are fantastic and let lots of light in. I have one in my study (8'x14') one in the utility room and another in the dining end of kitchen/diner. The downside is the price of the blinds!!! Also having a sunpipe for our upstairs new landing and they look amazing.0
