There is no mention yet of that offer on the Aldi site for next Thurs, of course. But, yes it is a fairly good price for a dish inclusive.
However, if a person already has a dish (dish installers previously told me most standard dishes can be used for HD) you can get a refurbished HD freesat box on fleabay for about £50, and sometimes new for about £70 (inc p+p).
I've just checked on there, they've got loads. Having been to a few shops to look at the quality of HD, I can't say I was impressed and I don't think I'll bother upgrading unless prices fall further. I was impressed with LED TVs however, and that might be the very best way to get the most out of HD. Again, until (or if) LED TVs halve in price, I won't be buying.
Although if £sterling continues to weaken against other currencies due to the low base interest rate here affecting import prices (although rates not low on most credit cards where the APRs are soaring) then falling prices on goods from overseas will be wholesaler/retailer driven rather than exchange rate driven. That's one reason why petrol prices are so high, because the £ is so weak and petrol is sold to the UK in US$ usually.Escaped from Barnet to freedom in the South-East!0 -
B&Q sell a Ross Freesat HD kit with a 65cm dish for £69.0

Just to point out that neither of these are Freesat (or FreesatfromSky) receivers though they will receive all the Free to Air Channels - including those on Freesat0

Be aware that these are 'free satellite' setups rather than 'Freesat' - nothing wrong with that, but don't be fooled into thinking they're the same thing.0

Just as a point of interest what is the difference? I'm currently watching tv through my old sky plus reciever and dish (cancelled subscription to save cash) anyways in the next week i'll be buying a full HD plasma and was wondering in order to get the world cup in HD can i just buy a replacement HD freesat box and if so would i get any channels extra i dont currently get through my current sky+ box (BBC 1-4, ITV 1-4 the Fives and E4S)?
Many thanks in advance.

The EPG.
You'd get the HD channels BBC HD and ITV1 HD (the latter only if you live in England or Wales.Registered Linux user #497422 :beer:0
