You live in Inner London, the OP is in West Yorkshire - rent levels are not really comparable!
Fair comment. Just had a quick peek on Rightmove and you certainly get a lot more house for that money up there - there is a lovely part furnished four bed house for rent. OP, would it be possible for you to downsize?0 -
The above suggestions are generally good. You need to get rid of the car, move to somewhere cheaper and cut down on your outgoings.
When you do eventually get back onto a firmer footing, be more realistic about the place you rent and what you borrow.0 -
At 19 years young you could consider *grits teeth* moving back with parents, if they'll have you of course. That would be a money saver and a big worry off your mind. Good luck. xOnly 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0

Hi all, Thank you sooo much for replying, I have not been ignoring this thread, have been reading it, just had alot of things to think about and sort out!
We have one very slight possibility in that we have managed to get a crisis loan for £80, plus managed to borrow £100, and we have also been given ALOT of things, which we are going to carboot over the weekend (Well, OH is, I cant even stand at the moment!) hopefully a few hundred pounds there, and so rent will be paid, only a few days late which landlord has said is fine.
I have applied for jobseekers/council tax rebate/housing benefit, hopefully shouldnt be too long until it comes through, I should actually be entitled to disability allowance apparently but was advised to apply for jobseekers until I can get into the doctors, then I can change the claim over (should mean that I get the money earlier). The housing benefit and council tax is a joint claim too.
I am sooo frustrated with this country at the moment, rung up about crisis loan and was asked wether I had any kids, no, so therefore entitled to !!!!!! all. Then they said the only money they will give you is for food and gas/electric, apparently having gas and electric is more important than having somewhere to live! Plus to get money for gas/electric you have to pay for it by using the prepaid cards, can't if you get bills!
In my OP I realised that I missed off the fact that we got a £700 bill (for 3 months) no reason why we use that much, well, we dont!! So they looked into it, came round, and realised that the emerges (that could be spelt totally wrong, hope u know what I mean!) boiler doesnt have a lid on, is using in their words "10000x" as much as it should be. Thanks landlord!!
We have also contacted car finance company, been given another week with no extra charges, just incase we get a windfall, but if not they can have it, I will have to get a mobility scooter lol (has anyone ever seen a 19 yo on a mobility scooter!!) or just stay inside!
Thank you all again sooo much, will let you know if we do get that windfall ;O) xx'Patience is a virtue till we die. Then a ripple in the water caught my eye'Mrs Jason Orange.Getting organized and thrifty for christmas 2010!0 -
Glad to hear that your sounding more positive.
Just a thought, has your OH got someone else to go to bootsale with him....reason l ask is when on the one occassion l done a booty on my own l was desperate for the loo but couldn't leave the pitch, with not knowing the people at the neighbouring pitches0 -
Thank you PaulofEssex, I hadn't thought of that, It is a possibility that I could maybe go and stay in the car, althrough sitting upright for a while is painful, so may have to ask a friend to go with him :O).
We found out about a carboot that was meant to be today, he got up at 6am, packed car, got there and it wasnt there! Typical of our luck! so plan to do a morning one and afternoon one tomorrow, and then a morning one monday, and if we have enough left and we can find one, one on monday afternoon too!! So I certainly wont be going to them all! xx'Patience is a virtue till we die. Then a ripple in the water caught my eye'Mrs Jason Orange.Getting organized and thrifty for christmas 2010!0 -
When your HB is awarded make sure they don't restrict your maximum entitlement to the Local Housing Allowance figure for the first 13 weeks of the claim (assuming you've not claimed in the previous 52 weeks). Lots of councils don't apply the 13 week protection automatically - they must, but lots of assessers don't notice it so only award if pointed out to them.0
