I have just won one of these on the comps board:D I have used a cheap one before and it killed and gave me ingrown hairs and not very smooth legs, I am hoping for more success with this one, does anyone have any tips or tricks for me?

Sorry I can't be of any use, but was thinking of buying one of these and was also waiting for feedback to see if they are worth the money...........congrats on your win!

I have the silk epi by Braun and think from what I see of the other models, the ingrowing hair issue is not to do with the model but how you follow it up afterwards. Make sure you exfoliate to release any dead skin which otherwise would sit in the skin pores, its normally tollerated without us getting ingrowing hairs but when we eplilate the hairs get taken out by the roots and there is a space there for dead skin cells to gather. When the new hair comes through unless we have gotten rid of that dead skin we get ingrowing hairs.

As well as exfoliating, cleanse afterwards and when you can use an alcohol based wipe (as in facial wipe or hand wipe with alcohol in the ingredience) to help, there is a spray by Nads (I think) specially designed for this which does a similar thing but doesn't smell great (hence the idea of the wipes!)

Make sure you always exfoliate and then moisturise with a gel moisturiser (Nivea do some and I am sure other brands also do) this seems to help too.

The good think is though, the more you eplilate, the more your skin gets used to it and the fewer ingrowing hairs you get, though I still prefer waxing: one quick swipe and its all gone- no sitting around with pins and needle type feeling in my legs!

Thanks jennie:) Excellent advice as always:) I'm reporting back on my new gadget, I finally got round to giving it a go last night and wow! Firstly there is a huge difference between my old cheap version and this all singing one (it would of cost £100:eek:) I had a shower, exfoliated and went straight in with the basic head as I had epilated before and not a bit of pain:Tit got even the shortest hairs and my legs are super smooth:Dits says when you start out to do it for about 4 or 5 days continuously to even out the growing hairs and then as necessary, I used an old alcohol based toner I had afterwards as jennie suggested so hopefully no ingrown hairs, I would recommend this product so far, I might even give underarm and other areas;)a go I was so impressed just got to see what regrowth is like (or not) also it comes with different heads for those with lower pain thresholds, a shaver attachment and a nifty pair of tweezers with a light on them.

Well I have bought mine and couldn't resist giving it a quick go....Holy moly the pain . It was like being thrashed with a bunch of nettles. I'm hoping this will get less painful as I use it because the results were very smooth (though I only managed to do one leg because of the pain)..

*If anyone can give me some tips on how to reduce the pain that would be great, or is it a matter of time?*

It really is a time thing or at least it was for me :D It hurt like hell the first time but then the hair grows more bitty and now i just don't feel it, i do my underarms and bikini as well...my bikini still makes me suck in breath though;)

Depends on your pain threshold as well i suppose, but for me it was worth it. Hope it eases off for you...just try the same leg in a couple of days and see how it feels. Are you going to brave the other leg or have one hairy one :rotfl:

I managed to do the other leg, i used an icepack to numb the area and managed to get through it. On the plus side it wasn't quite as painful as childbirth! It did make me question my vanity :D. I think I will have to build up the bikini line, there may need to be some alcohol involved _pale_.

LOL with alcohol you might get trigger happy and have a brazilian by tommorrow! :rotfl:

I was the same at first but my vanity came first then...not so much now and i do let regrowth get beyond acceptable for my hubbie :D But i've been epilating for nearly 8 years now so i think my skin is hardened to it :) Not saying i'm leather like.
