short term house insurance

Hi All

does anyone know of a place where you can get cheap buildings insurance short term or are able to cancel it with low penalties?

We've accepted an offer on our flat and insurance is coming to an end very soon, however we've been quoted £800 a year with a £50 cancellation fee by our current provider (The AA) !!! :eek:

This would effectively mean we would be paying £140 for 6 weeks insurance?!?

hey, it ends on the 1st June and we expect to exchange the end of June at the earliest and mid July at the latest.

I did find that halifax do a 30 day cancellation window but then, if we complete mid-July i would maybe need to take another policy with a 14 day cancellation?
