Can anyone help please with a cheap day return option, Cambridge to Heathrow terminal 4, for this Saturday, 29 May.
I need to be at Terminal 4 around 9h; I must be back by 18.30>19h.
I am 61, have Bus Pass.
I can't find anything under £30, which is a Nat Express standard rtn, 29>31 May being No Discount days for them.
I can travel down on Friday afternoon/evening if necessary.
ANY HELP WILL BE HUGELY APPRECIATED.
Thankyou.
################
Please can anyone say if this is a correct ticket for my journey?

http://www.thetrainline.com/buytickets/combinedmatrix.aspx?Command=TimeTable

Also, to then find my way to Terminal 4, will my Bus Pass cover this?
Thankyou.

An offpeak travelcard from Cambridge to Liverpool Street plus zones 1 to 6 on the tube, etc, is £20.30

If you want to use the faster Kings Cross service it's £26.50

The 0551 from Cambridge to Liverpool Street should get you there in time - the 0632 probably would

You bus pass doesn't help with this - that fare is available to anyone.

Your trainline session has timed out - I suspect it's routing you via the Heathrow Express which will be quicker but more expensive.

dzug1 - I so want to thank you for your help.
I came across that off-peak fare, cheaper than coach and wondered if it could be correct.
Am I correct in assuming that my Bus Pass will not be needed for getting to Terminal 4, which is not one I've been to before?
    Thankyou again.

I can't seem to find any way to buy this online. I worry that I'd get to Cambridge and be refused the fare for some jobsworth reason, then be stuck.

The Underground will take you from Liverpool Street (with one change) or Kings Cross (direct) all the way to terminal 4 and the off peak travelcard will cover the entire journey in both directions.
I'm guessing it takes around an hour - maybe a little more from Lpool St.

It's a walkon ticket you can buy on the day. The ticket office should be open from 0510. If it were me I'd ask for a one day travelcard via Liverpool Street (if you are going that way) - the default might be the more expensive one.

Your bus pass would cover you for bus journeys in the Heathrow area (in fact many of them are free anyway) - but you won't need to use it.

I am indebted to you, dzug1.
Have been trying, in vain, to get rid of all the extraneous fares and spaces...didn't work, as you see. They just reappear when I hit 'save'.

Just to say, don't buy from the trainline. They charge fees which are easily avoided.

As Dzug suggested, buy at the station.... Same price.

Used Bus Pass earlier today, bought ticket from station and checked on Men At Work over w/e, having heard dirty rumours.
£21 - all fine. It's a surprise that train outperforms bus substantially, even without railcard.
    Thankyou again dzug1 and keithP.

    Hi
Am going the same way and was wondering if there are any train works heading that way..
Though would it not be cheaper by oyster card for 2 journeys or is it cheaper to get to kings cross + 1-6 ?

Goodness, taking on unexpected laurel of 'expert':o, I also checked the Piccadilly line - no works, service 'very good'.
    Check for known probs. here:

Can't answer you re: oysters[except to say I love them], but have settled with the £21 all-in[which covers all routes, says ticket], better than the £30 coach rtn.
    Bonne route mahesh_on.

    Glad it worked out

National Express coaches on airport routes are always more expensive than on normal ones - only where there is significant competition are things any different
