Autotrader conman be carefull !!!
I have my BMW on autotrader at the min got this email regarding it a couple of days ago, which just didnt sit right with me from the start:
"Hello.
I am writing in regards to your advert on auto trader site.
I am very much inteested in buying your above advert subject
I have gone through the details,I am quite satisfied with it.
Kindly furnish me with the final price you wish to let it go.
You can ring me on 07024068848
Thank you very much
Regards
Cole."
The way it's worded obviously a "forgeign" gentleman.
I replied with:
"Hi Tried calling but no reply. I am willing to let the car go for £9500. If you need more info or wish to view you can call me on 07*********."
Now I have just recieved the following email:
"Hello.
Thanks for the mail.
I am quite satisfied with the price tag.
Wish to pick up the car as soon as the payment made to you, actually i
am busy right now and it will take me about two weeks before i will be
available,(I will be away for seminar and workshop) so i will not be able to come for the inspection and test drive, but if you don't mind i will make a kind of bond in other to hold the car, i will like to make a deposit for the car,is that okay with you?
If this is okay with you let me know? by giving the information on how to make the payment? Bank Wire Transfer(The Name of the Bank, Account Name, Account Number and the sort code) ? By Bank Draft ? cheque ( The name you wish the payment to be endorse, mailling address, post code and your contact telephone number) For quick and effective transction.
Alternatively I can send my repsentative to come for inspection and test drive on my behalf if you want it that way, or you send some picture of the to me through mail, because without doubt in mind i have senn all need to see about the car through advert on auto trader, so i promise i will purchase this car.
Thanks and God Bless.
Cole"

Reply saying sorry, but the price is £19,500 and see what they say.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

tell them to bring cash!!! you won't ever see them.I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.0 -
I must admit that Autotrader has started to get a bit like Ebay lately with issues like this. They are the same old rubbish and luckily can be spotted a mile off. I would just send him back a mail telling him to go away in no uncertain terms. They will soon move onto the next.0

Tell them you will only do business in person inside "yourbank" bank and only with cash, you will issue a reciept, sign the V5 and hand the reciept, V5 and keys over to the person only after the cash has been counted and accepted into your account by the bank cashier.
You do not accept deposits only the full amount. The car will be "on sale" to anyone until someone comes and agrees to buy it and pays for it.
Now the warning, It looks like a scam where the buyer either sends money via western union and it never arrrives but the car departs. or bought by cheque, and the money is reclaimed through the bank system, (you can recover cheques through banks for upto 2 years (or it could be 6 months I dunno) and there is nothing the recipient can do about it, if the money is in the account ...out it goes back to the cheque issuer.0 -
All the emails need is to have a few "god bless you" and to say "I wish for the car to be sent to me in Lagos, Nigeria, don't worry I am a rich man I have inherited $122,000,000 (one hundred twenty two million dollars, yes that's right!)."0

This is the 2nd time I've had a mail like this since putting my car up for sale (coincidentally for £9500!). I'm afraid I wasn't as patient or trusting as you. I told him to p*** off.
I'm posting again in case someone else needs to check this out with a Google search.0
