Hate is a very strong and completely unneccesary word.
It wasnt a case of not liking your post, you asked for a comment and advice, we gave it. Thats why we posted, at your request.

ie Any views would be welcom.

Its all very well slagging off posters who dont actually say what you wanted to hear, but if you reread your own post it says quite clearly

    'What are my rights'

So you werent informing us of the situation at all really. You were asking something.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If the question is "what are my rights?", it's not really a question of whether or not you agree with the original poster though. None of us here can say catagorically what the poster's rights are - the only way that can be established is by going and talking to the local planning department. It is unusual to have frosted glass on a landing window, so it seems reasonable to wonder if it was put there for a reason.

Is your landing window frosted or clear? It sounds like they are identical houses? If yours is frosted then perhaps it was part of the original planning permission (how old are your houses?). If yours is clear then I suggest that clear is probably OK.

I knew all the haters would post some random comment. If you dont like my post why waste your time posting a comment??

Your question was not an issue, and I have answered it

But why oh why did you have to include the comment "... all paid for by the government"?

I can only think of two reasons

1 - to inform everyone that they might be able to get an extension built for a disabled person for free. That's fine

or 2 ..... just out of bitterness .... that a disabled person is able to get an extension built for free. That's not fine

It is far too common on these forums to find that OP's who do not like the answers to the questions they pose, then take offence. If you are on a public forum, then you need to hoist in all the answers, whether you like them or not.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • If you've ever had nosy neighbours you will probably understand the OPs concerns about their privacy (leaving aside whether they are disabled or not). It's not a very nice feeling when you know someone is watching you all the time - we have this with our present house and have had to put opaque film on some windows to stop the neighbour constantly looking in.

I'm not saying that the OPs neighbours fall into this category but once you've had a neighbour like that it does make you very aware of privacy issues in future.

Maybe a chat with the neighbour would sort the problem out so that you are both happy? You dont need to know your 'rights' just tell them your concerns.

I'm not used to the comments some people make on these forums the way in which the comments can be taken are not always pleasant But I see your point.

Thanks Catherine Im glad you can see my point of view. It is quite an odd felling to feel your being watched even though im sure they have better things to do.

I will have a word with them over the weekend but as its not there build in as much as they arent paying I dont think they have much say in what goes on i think it might be a case of dealing with the builder and the council.

I think you need to get a life, what makes you think you and yours are so interesting that someone will sit at there landing window watching you at any given time.

It's all in your head, chuck, just get on with your life and let your neighbours get on with theirs.

They may be thinking that they cant even pass their landing window without you (the nosy neighbours) looking up at them.
There is always 2 sides to every story.
I almost guarantee you animosity and falling out if you 'have a word' with them. Just think about it before you do.
