Last two years wife has arranged house & contents insurance with Direct Line, this has been £475, tried to put the payment up last year but wife contacted them to haggle down to original price (£475). This year the renewal price was over £900!!! My wife contacted them and they would only reduce it down to £800, this was yesterday. I went on the Direct Line website today and got a quote for Home Insuranc Plus which is unlimited house insurance as well as contents cover. It also includes legal protection, household emergencies and travel insurance, the price an unbelievable £282??? Obviously l have now paid for this home insurance and l have cover for another year. How can insurance companies rip off an existing client who has not even made a claim with them? It pays to get a new quote every year for all your insurance needs which is now what l do. I did the same with my car insurance recently and saved £29 for this
