Chip and Pin @ McDonalds

in Credit cards
I recently used my Switch card to pay for some food in McDonalds. However they never asked for my Pin Number nor asked me to sign a voucher. However the money was taken from my account. I spoke to Clydesdale, (my bank) I said they should not of authorised the transaction, they said, they were obliged to as it had been requested. I spoke to McDonalds, they said the bank should not of authorised the payment without the pin number.
My point is, the money, no matter how small or large should not of been taken without my say so via the Pin or Signature.
So everyone is blaming everyone, Who is to blame, and whats my next step.
In advance, thanks for all your input.

McD's in Lincoln take debit cards (maybe credit too?) and if it's under £5/£10 they don't require a signature. Been doing that for at least a year. No different from Tescos Pay@Pump, which even have an input panel under the flap. Guess they can't read the Chips?0

Seems fairly sensible for McD's to use the same process as the supermarket petrol pumps. After all how may people use a debit card in McD's and do you train all the staff for those few transactions (and would they remember, they find it hard enough to do so in the 5 seconds between me saying 'No Ice' and them puting ice in the paper cup).
With the supermarkets (and McD's as well I presume), the supermarket bears the loss if it turns out the card was stolen. They may get a few people trying it on, but there will be CCTV in McD's to prove things one way or another.0
