Hi all, I am trying to download this video:
http://www.teachers.tv/videos/25369
There used to be a download button on the web page itself, underneath the video, but that is no longer available. It's for use in a classroom and although the video is available to stream, this is usually unsuccessful where I work because of constant buffering, so I would prefer to download it.
So far I have tried: Zamzar (says the URL needs a file extension?), and the Firefox add-ons Fast Video Download and DownLoad Helper (neither of these recognise a video to download even when it's playing onscreen).
Any help gratefully received. Thanks x

Licence information for Episode 11 - Holiday Time (French)
Download: Teachers TV does not have the rights to offer this programme for download0 -
The problem is that the web page clearly says:
Download: Teachers TV does not have the rights to offer this programme for download.
Your safest (from a legal point of view) bet would probably be to contact Teachers TV, explain the problem and see if they can help - they may have the ability to get it to you by some other means than a download.0 -
Thanks, until recently they were available for download - I have already downloaded a few of the episodes, but didn't get round to downloading this one. It's also available in segments on this website (with no disclaimers), but I can't manage to download it from here either!

My guess is that whoever owns the rights noticed that Teachers TV were offering a download in contravention of their licence terms and told them to stop.
They are using what appears to be Flash video streaming, which is resistant to the easiest methods of capture.
If you want to find a way around this, you could do a web search for "capture FLV streaming video". Look carefully at the terms, as some "free" products are actually free trials with limitations that you can't get around without paying for the "full" version.0 -
Hi
It's not easy to download those teachers programs because they are run in the browser.
Programs such as 'URL sniffers' are available.
But it says on the page:- Download: Teachers TV does not have the rights to offer this programme for download.
However, it's not difficult to download those segments from your second link.
And there's no warning about not downloading them from there either.;)
To download the six segments from Episode 11 you can use a download manager program.
The program that I use with Linux is called 'wget'.
I think that the equivalent program for Windows is called 'WinWGet'.
It's available from here:-http://www.cybershade.us/winwget/
The six URLs are listed below to feed into the download manager.

Thanks bat999, will give it a go. I have also tried Orbit, but that didn't seem to work either - maybe I'm just rubbish
at downloading!

Thanks again, have managed to download from the non-protected site, using the url's provided by bat999, and Orbit, which I had already downloaded after another kind recommendation. Am really pleased that I've done it, normally I follow all the instructions and still fail miserably! Many thanks for the great advice xx
ps have opened all the files and amazingly enough both sound and video are there! It took only a few seconds per link, I am v impressed. Am now converting them via Zamzar as work laptops will only play avi files.0 -
Next time you want a video that is embedded in a web based player, just look at the page source codeRemember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.0
