please help - nuisance calls day and night from a fax number

For weeks now we have been getting calls from a fax machine, the number is 01302 349257 which is a Doncaster care home according to whocallsme, these calls can be 4 times a day and now are happening through the night, we have called the number back but it just rings a couple of times then connects to the fax machine, I have looked online at all the care homes in Doncaster but this number is not listed as a contact number at any of them (due to it being the fax number I guess)

We are with Talk Talk, I have called them but they want to charge us £4 a month to barr the number which I don't see why I should have to pay when its not our fault!!, but I am at my wits end with this, the only other option would be to change our number which will cost £20 but more hassle in having to let everyone know a new number.

Is there ANY way I can find out who this number belongs to?

Have you tried sending them a fax explaning problem, and asking them to stop.

If you look at Whocallsme people in a Care Home are recieving calls from it. Nothing to suggest the nature of the source.

If you could get an old, but still functional, fax machine via Freecycle, you could receive whatever message* they are trying to send and send a suitable reply! *It may well be be in breach of the Data Protection Act so you may have some good ammunition.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Thanks for the advice

I have a fax machine myself but the only way it will work is if I unplug my phone line and plug in the fax, as the calls come at random, I can't just leave my phone line unplugged all day to see if I get a call. So far today I have had nothing.

I did send a fax yesterday to the number asking them to stop and have not had anything since so maybe it's worked? although last night we had another call from a fax but this number again was a doncaster area code but a different number!!!! so I don't know what is going on.

We may end up having to pay to change our number, I can't understand why we are getting fax machines from different numbers calling us and can't think of what else we can do
