Child Tax Credits

my DSS (17) is moving in with us in July, we will be claiming the child benefit and will not be due to tax credits due to income which is fine.

His mum currently claims tax credits for him and his sister and suspect she will 'forget' to notify them he is no longer there - she previously moved abroad for 3 years 'forgetting' to tell the child benefit people. Given that we will not be puting in a claim, how will they know that she is no longer entitled?

a Child Benefit scan is done now and again by TCO, so they will know, eventually.

the only other option would be to report her for suspected non compliance...
