Hi everyone
I am currently project managing our new office renovation which is a 1930s/50s house.
It has flemish bond brick work and we're having all the rooms stripped and replastered.
Now we'd like to put some insulation on the walls, bearing in mind this is a office so wont be used in the dead cold @ night etc.
What would everyone recomend in way of insulation plasterboard?
thanks

hi, really you have two options if the walls are blockwork.
a. You timber frame the walls and install some insulation between the studs.
b. You get this plasterboard here (sorry cant post links) - http : // www. british-gypsum. com /products/ plasterboard___accessories/gyproc_thermal/gyproc_thermaline_plus.aspx
^ The above most good builders merchants sell this, and im sure most plasterers will know what you are on about when you tell them this.
Which is the best option? its completely down to personal opinion, you are going to lose room space either way due to the size of timber studding or the plasterboard. Insulating wise too, there wont be much difference on performance either (depending what insulation you use).
Cost wise, a sheet of 27mm thermal board is roughly £20, so there wouldnt be much price difference either.
One more thing to note, you really only need to insulate the external walls on brick houses, insulating the internal walls really wont make any difference.
Hope this helps
