NEW GAS CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEm (Boiler, 13 rads, pipework)

Hi,
There are lots of questions I have, so please bear with me as this is all new ground to me....
I have recently taken ownership of a 4 double bedroom detached house with 2 bathrooms, which needs a whole new central heating system installed, including 13 rads (6 doubles down, 7 singles up) of various sizes, and a new boiler. Within the next 10years we were also thinking about possibly having a loft converstion / extention, so it is likely there will be another bathroom and bedroom.
I have had the two 'big boys' come round and look at the house, BG are obviously the most expensive and Npower. The reason I looked at these is because we want to do it on finance, rather than lump sum.
My understanding is because we would look to install powershowers in the bathrooms and the size of the house, we would probably want a conventional heat only system rather than a combi (?).
When BG came round he looked round the house, talked it through and quoted me 4,500GBP for a BG 330+ HF boiler (glowworm i think?), flue installation, powerflush, pipework, removal of old tank and immersion heater etc, but nothing about rads.
N-power came a few days later, asked me nothing about installing powershowers or future extentions but just looked around the house. He said that because our current rads are 'micro-bore' we would need new rads (13 in total) and pipework (which i think is probably right..??), as well as the new boiler. He suggested a glowworm flexicom 30cx combi, installation of flue, new 13 new rads, pipework for 6,000GBP.
The current system/boiler is dead and over 20years old.
Does anybody have any idea to what boiler i should be looking to get that will meet demand without water pressure fading, know anything about micro-bore pipework if it is really does need replacing because its old and wont hold pressure, and what the estimated cost should be for it all in??
I literally have no idea about any of this and i imagine the guys i met knew i didnt either, so it was a case of ' bend over and pull you pants down' time...
Any help would be REALLY appreciated!! Thanks.

Good afternoon: take a look at the HHIC website for answers to some of your questions. As you are looking at a supplier who will provide finance you have seriously limited your options...an independent RGI, recommended to you by a source you trust, would represent better value for money, conduct a thorough site survey and discuss your requirements.Tbh..I don't rate the advice you've been given by the Big Boys.

Thanks. I will have a look at the HHIC website in just a min.
The only reason we're looking to do it on finance is because i just dont have that sort of money lying around... out of interest, what do you know what it might be if we used an independent local chap and paid upfront?0 -
Hi...significantly less than what you have been quoted for a higher specification installation.;) Multibathroom property with good mains pressure/flow rates with potential for expansion= system boiler and unvented cylinder...cost unknown not having conducted a site survey.

Having seen some of the advice you have given others, me and your ratings, seems like your advice is pretty impartial and genuine.
Interested in a visit to Sandhurst to see what needs doing, and quoting for the job?
I tried the HHIC www but the 'find an installer' section is down.0 -

Check your BG written quote for the details of the Rads.
It is a big job, so wont come cheap. Personally Id recommend the system boiler option, just not the one BG suggested...
Plenty of smaller firms still offering financeHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I would think that the BG quote is boiler change only.
I actually don't think the npower quote is far out, but don't even consider the cheapo Glow Worm flexibomb!0
