Problem with french door

My french door is difficult to shut, I have to push it hard to close. It was fitted by Everest 3 yrs ago by previous owners. Is there anything I can do or who do I call to have a look? The frame is plastic and not wood I would not have thought there should be no problem. With wood I have the same problem depending on the weather. Thanks

You will probably find that over time, one of the doors (or the frame) has settled. Look to see if any part of the door is catching on the other.
Usually, the hinges have adjustment facilities (mine have 2 holes on the external hinges - covered by blanking caps). One set will adjust vertically and the other horizontally, so it's a case of small tweaks to realign the offending door.
You could try ringing Everest up to see if they will visit for free (as only 3 years old) but to be honest, it shouldn't be difficult to sort out, provided they were installed correctly and there are no other problems with the building that would cause the problem.0 -
Thanks, you are right it might need a tweak, surveyor did mention that the hinges have dropped but did not take much notice as the door shut and closed ok at that time. I doubt whether everest will come out as they wanted £60 to change the name on the guarantee certificate. Thanks for your help.0

I'd pay the £60, there not that old, so for 60 quid you would be getting a seven year guarantee, and they'll fix the problem you've already got. If the lock breaks around £160, if a unit fails could be a couple of hundred quid. £60 well spent if you ask me.0
