you will not qualify for contributions based but may, depending on your circumstances, qualify for income based - where will you be living when you return to UK - alone?, do you have savings

Hi Caz, thanks for the reply,

I have savings of around 3,800 pounds and might borrow another 1000 from my folks, so that would be a total of 4,800. I am single ( early 30s) and will am looking right now on gumtree for shared accomodation. I also seem to lost payslips and p45 of last job.

Under £6k savings, JSA is unaffected.

If you have been living abroad, and are returning to live in the UK, your claim to any income based benefit you apply for within 2 years of returning may be affected. You will have to satisfy the residence test. The right to reside will not apply.

How long do you have to live abroad for this to kick in? I will be returning a few days before i complete 12 months abroad. ( I just checked my Air ticket and i left the uk end of june).
