Tax credits question! :-(

Hi all, well im at the same point as a lot of people i suspect, the dreaded tax renewel forms.

This is my situation! my partner works full time and myself part time (12 hours), we dont receive working tax just child tax, my forms came through and we noticed it has me down as working nil hours!!!

We have had numerous problems previously and are paying back a HUGE overpayment (which they admitted was their error but we STILL have to pay back!), so i dont trust them at all, SO anyway, my friend said it doesnt matter as if you work less than 16 hours it doesnt affect the child tax credit therefore i shouldnt even need to declare it. Is this correct?

I am worried they are now going to say we have been overpayed again and take the little money we do get off us, (we struggle at the mo and so this would be disastrous!)

Any advice would be greatly received!

If you work less than 16 hours the system doesn't pick up on it anyway so they don't need to put down your work hours but you still need to declare your income. Did you ever dispute the overpayment?

Hi there, thanks for that, so do i tell them again? In answer to your question yes i did, they admitted that on their system they had me written down as working but in the earnings column it had nil:eek:

I rang on numerous occasions to dispute the payment but they kept insisting it was fine!

They just keep saying we have to pay it back:mad:
