paypal payment "confirmed address" required?

I just purchased an item from ebay and paid with paypal. Unfortunately the seller will not accept paypal with an unconfirmed address.
I have had a paypal account for a few years and the account is verified, so how do I get the "confirmed address" option?

If you look on the paypal site there should be a link to click on... essentially they ring you at home (a minute or two after you request the call) and I think you enter a 4 digit number on your phone. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Did the seller state in the auction that they would only accept PayPal payments from confirmed addresses?0

i've recently confirmed my address, if i remember correctly i had to request a call from paypal, they gave me a 4 digit number to input. then i had to give them my bank account details and they paid two small amounts of money in by DD, i then had to confirm what these 2 amounts where before i was verified.
it was a bit of a pain in the bum cos i don't have internet banking with the account i gave and had to trail down town to ask what the amounts where :cool:Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

I think the phone call part should be enough. Verified isn't quite the same as confirmed address. My TV is broken!

The seller has contacted me stating that my address is unconfirmed and will not refund my paypal payment account until I make a credit card payment instead. I do not have sufficent funds in my credit card to do this so are they in their rights to take this action?0 -
If you don't confirm your address (simple steps, as above) then the seller is not protected against potential fraudulent claims.
It's the work of 5 minutes to get confirmed. It can only be of benefit to you in the long run, as there won't be any future trouble with this.
The seller should refund you before you re-pay. The payment you have already made is no good to him as is. If he's trying to apply leverage, tell him politely that you are unable to repay as you don't have enough credit to do so, until he has refunded you.
If the seller is asking you to pay by a means other than paypal, for your own protection, don't do it.
He doesn't sound like a particularly nice person to deal with - are there any other warning signs?
By the way, re: confirmed addresses - if you haven't ever had to do the PIN / phone call from paypal thing, then no, your account does not have a verified address. My TV is broken!

The simple answer is no, there is no facility for a seller to opt out of taking paypal for any reason once he ticks the 'I accept paypal ' box. However, it isn't as simple as that of course as you can't force him to send your item and accept your payment. You could start a non performing seller complaint against him, but realistically that would probably result in a negative both ways. Alternatively he may release you from your obligation to buy, but watch if he does that that he doesn't then start an NPB on you, if he does argue the case that he refuses to accept your payment which is in line with the auction terms.
I agree with the previous pot though, under no circumstances pay by any other means whatever the seller threatens you with. Insist on paypal as per the auction, or refuse to pay.

You should consider opening an "Item Not Received" dispute with PayPal. That way you'll get your PayPal payment back.0

You can't start a paypal chargeback unless the payment has been accepted. If the payment is still with the seller then yes, a paypal chargeback can be started, if however the payment has been returned then no chargeback is available.
