My OH had AA cover free as part of the deal when he purchased his car.
They sent him a good offer to join them when it ran out. After a bit of research we decided to go with the AA and transfer my car from my existing provider too.
Rang AA and took out cover. Received email (without membership number) saying cover starts in a few days when OH's existing policy runs out.
Cancelled my cover (taking a hit but still in pocket due to good AA deal).
Week later, no policy arrived. OH calls AA who have no record of our membership. Then didn't want to honour offer until OH insisted the manager got on the line. So we were effectively uncovered for over a week.
Anyone taking out AA cover needs to double check to make sure their application goes through correctly.
