Buying in Barking

Thinking about buying a house in Barking. Does anyone know anything about what this area is like?

It is cheap for property. Not the best reputation (see recent election results and media attention re: BNP councillors) hence low property price. However if it fits your budget it may be good to invest and move when you are able to climb the ladder.

It isn't a particularly nice area. It has lots of council & ex council houses so prices tend to be low. It's one plus point is it has a tube line.

There are nicer areas with reasonable prices, so unless the place you are thinking about is a real bargain, look around at other areas too.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

It's a horrible area. Loads of murders and rapes. Just horrible.

Thanks everyone. Will steer well clear of Barking then for now.
