lloyds tsb won't leave me alone

hi, i have 3 tsb accounts, 2 regular accounts with 1k overdraft facilities each, and a 3rd at another branch for savings, sadly lying unused with just a few £ss in. I also have had a 10k loan from them, this i have been paying off regularly in the normal fashion, its now down to about a bit over 1k, so will be paid off in full in 4mths, a fact that fills me with some joy :-)
Lastly i have a credit card with tsb which has a 4k credit limit with tsb.
I do not have any other loans or credit cards etc with them or anyone else.

I have been a fulltime mature student for the last 4yrs, so have coped with paying the loan just, but just been servicing the creditcard debt.
My student funding, and my part-time wages 500-1200 per mth goes into my regular accounts.

Recently tsb staff from the branch where i have the savings account, have been foning me askin me to pop in to discuss my accounts. I have told them i don't want to if its just in effect a sales call, they have suggested discusssing my accounts, extending my loan to switch monies around to reduce more expensive debts, asked what home insurance i have, enquired where my mortgage is (with a seperate bank, nothing to do with the tsb, and stayin that way!).
The thing is despite my rebuttals they still fone every week or so. I think its cause they want me to extend my loan under the temptation of putting that money to payin off the credit card, saving me money. I however just want to pay off my loan in a few mths entirely and be loan free :-)
Then as i'm shortly graduating and beginning full-time work i will then have a chance to start paying off the credit card, and also with a full-time wage i can think about switching the credit card to a provider with a lower rate of interest etc once i have a fulltime wage, at the moment i cant do this cause im still (just) a student.

In their recent calls, tsb have been intimating that my accounts are closeable by them if they decided they wanted my debts back, i have said; but you get regular wages/monies paid in, i have never defaulted on a scheduled loan payment, or not paid at least the minimum on my card. I feel they are almost vaguely threatening me, and i do not want a meeting, as i'm sure it's a sales call and i'm scared if i go for a meeting they'll sweet talk me into extending my loan.

if they don't stop soon i'm going to be rude to them on the fone! Then i fear what the may do :-(
has anyone else had this, are they just on a sales drive, or if i keep fending them off will they move to close my accounts?

any help, this is starting to stress me out far too much
thanks

Sales staff have sales targets and quotas to achieve. Politely ask him/her not to call again and hang up. Write and ask them to stop "harrasing" you.

    thanks

Get a phone with Caller ID. Only answer calls you want to take. You'll soon recognise their number (and you'll find Caller ID is useful for other callers too).

Banks are required to remove contact numbers for marketing purposes if you ask them to. This certainly is marketing. Best thing to do is write to them requesting that they remove all contact numbers, they have no choice but to comply.

Give them a call and ask to be removed from marketing campaigns, put the same request in writing. They should be in a position to flag the account as one that should not be 'sold' do.

Do what the other posters said - and don't worry about being rude to them on the phone!

When I get marketing calls I try being polite first, and asking them to remove all my details from their system. If I get a second call from the same place, I just hang up - simples.

I agree with getting the no marketing flag put on your account but if you do get calls while they're getting that done I'm sure you'll find it really frustrating. Rather than get wound up as soon as they say who it is politely ask them to hold while you -'get the door', 'turn the pan off' anything really and just leave them holding until they hang up. Much less stressful and more satisfying. I've done this before when we've received calls while eating dinner, I've just put the phone on the table and carried on with eating dinner with my family and continuing the conversation we were having before being interrupted.

I agree with Annisele about not being rude I you only end up feeling bad, likewise if you get into a confrontational conversation. Good luck
  • thanks for the replies.
so i shouldn't worry about this bit:

"In their recent calls, tsb have been intimating that my accounts are closeable by them if they decided they wanted my debts back" they do this when i um and er about comin gin to see them
