Moving to and claiming welfare benefits in Canada

I really hope you guys can give me some advice re this issue as I'm having trouble finding any relevant information.
I have a dual nationality, both British and Canadian and am entitled to both a British and Canadian passport. I am really keen to move over to live in Canada, but for the time being I need to claim benefits. If I were to move over there, would I be entitled to the equivalent of housing and disability benefits in Canada, or would I have to have lived there for a number of years to 'establish residency'? Would it be possible for me to apply for social housing whilst living here in the UK? I really want to move over there and it would be great if someone could give me some practical advice about how I can go a about doing this.

With regard to housing benefits, these are not exportable. With regard to your right to Canadian housing benefits, you would need to check their rules. If you have a Google you should be able to find a forum for expats living in Canada.
With regard to IB and DLA, I am pretty sure that these are not exportable to Canada (although they are to EU countries under certain circumstances). However, I would contact the DWP to get a definitive answer.
Edit: Sorry, this link confirms they are not exportable.Gone ... or have I?0
