Sky still charging me for a contract that I cancelled last August because no signal!

My contract ran out mid July last year and I had no service for about a month then intermittent for a few weeks and had like 5 engineeer visits in about 3 weeks but each time it just happened to work when they came round so they did nothing.

Then another month passed and I found out I was being charged for Sky HD also despite me saying I no longer had a HD tv nor wanted HD channels or service and also why would I pay for a HD subscription for a box that didnt work.

I was promised a refund of the entire period of service that came to about £67 and £10 credit extra and I asked to cancel my contract since I was moving anyway to a property which I wasnt allowed a dish on the premises and spoke to cancellations who confirmed it would be cancelled.

In the meantime I was illegally evicted so didnt check my bill since I had no internet so about another month later I checked online to see I had a bill for another month and a reminder! I rang up and was told there was no record of a cancellation and they would do it then and credit the account.

Anyway I forgot because of Christmas and a family emergency and just litereally checked tonight so 5 months on to find I am still getting billed for a account I dont have, and not having watched Sky since around last June and I didnt even own a dish or box!

What can I do legally? I have proof of my new tenancy agreement saying I moved but reckon they will "lose" the phone calls again.

probably why nearly everyone always recommends that any cancellation to a company is done in writing and sent by recorded delivery post
