problem with excel file....

just recently seems i'm receiving some emails with attachments of excel spreadsheets .. that when i open them says they "are not recognisable format" .. and open with cells full of ......

The properties does show them as XLSX files , not the normal XLS files .

it's 2003 edition

tomstickland .... downloaded the microsoft converter .. and after a bit of trial & error ... by right clicking and using "open with" ... excel converter .... jobs sorted .

Yet again .. as always .. you techie guys are heros ... always helping .. and succeeding to solve problems .. within minutes .. even late at night !!

had another excel spreadsheet emailed to me today where same happened and had to go throufgh same procedure to cure .....

what's happened ? .... what's changed ? am i always going to have to go through this procedure each time ?

xlsx is the Excel 2007 format, ergo Excel 2003 doesn't recognise it.

Ask the sender to save it in xls format, or get Office 2007.

just download the office 2007 compatibilty pack and you will be able to save and open all office 2007 files with 2003

bengalknights .. that's what i'd done yesterday ( see post 4) .. i'm now asking whether every time i hit a problem i have to go through what i did in post 6 .
